What is the best advice you ever got?
“Well done is always better than well said.” While we cannot ignore the power that words have and how they can convey a message, it’s important not to forget that the way we act, how we execute and deliver on that message is what will last and create an impact.
The other piece of advice that I love is to be a lifelong learner, never stop pursuing knowledge and the desire to learn something new or deepen a passion you have.
What is the best part of your job? Or part you’re most proud of?
I enjoy a lot about my job, but one of the best parts is getting to have an immediate impact on the lives of our employees and seeing them grow over time within our company. Whether that’s helping them navigate benefits, address an issue, finding new ways for MMC to support our people or helping them through their learning and leadership development journey it is incredibly rewarding to have that connection to our employees. I’ve also enjoyed the benefit of representing an employer that really cares about their employee’s wellbeing and ability to achieve their goals with the support of our company and that is an exciting place to come to work each day.
Where is the most interesting place you have traveled?
I love to travel, experience new places, food & cultures, and have enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Europe. By far the most interesting place I have traveled is Marrakech, Morocco. The culture, language & surroundings were so different from any place I’d previously visited, and it was wonderful to immerse myself into a new place outside of my comfort zone.
Why do you enjoy working in the construction industry?
I can’t say that I knew much about commercial construction when I started in this industry in 2015. Since then, I am constantly amazed by the work that our teams physically put in place throughout our communities. I also enjoy the fast-paced, innovative and teamwork elements of working in this industry; not only within our company but even across vendors and project partners that I’ve had the opportunity to work with in construction.
What are some of your hobbies?
Having a toddler I don’t have a lot of time for hobbies beside laundry and picking up cars and Legos…. but I love to cook, try new foods and have friends & family over to share meals together. Cooking helps me to unwind after a long day or a long week and I look forward to finding a recipe to create a menu around. Cooking and hosting other is one of the ways that I take care of the people most important to me.
